Each year, Symphony Church collects and delivers Thanksgiving baskets to families at Thomas Edison K6 School. However, we've seen a growing need for essential items such as clothing, hygiene products, and food. Additionally, many families face housing instability, with some living in hotels or shelters.

This year, instead of delivering turkeys (which may not suit their needs or changing addresses), we’re hosting a Thanksgiving Pop-up Shop at the school. The shop will serve 80-100 families, or roughly 300 individuals, from two Boston Public Schools: The Winship Elementary School and Thomas Edison K6 School. These families have been identified by school staff as being in need, and many are migrant families who primarily speak Spanish or Portuguese. The shop will provide a store-like experience where families can "shop" for the items they need most. Everything will be provided for them free of charge!

The Education Initiative team is looking for volunteers to assist with donations, food pick-up, shop setup, and serving as store associates. To view job descriptions and sign up, please visit the registration link!
